Dream Studio (64-bit) 11.04 Official Release
DickMacInnis.com is proud to announce the official release of Dream Studio 11.04 for 64-bit processors. This is the first official release of Dream Studio in a fully 64-bit version, and while it contains all the same programs and features of the standard release, this version does come with a few advantages, such as:
-Support for more than 64GB of RAM
-Better hardware support for some 64-bit systems, including Apple's 2011 MacBookPro (due to there being no existing 32-bit wireless network driver for these systems)
-Support for programs which could use more than 4GB RAM, such as the included Cinelerra video editor, Blender 3D, or virtual machines which have been allocated more than 4GB of RAM
While this version of Dream Studio is fully supported through our forum just as the standard version is, it's use is only recommended for users requiring one or more of the above features. hello
hello
"Dream Studio 64-bi 0Install DVD" directory is empty.
I also am looking for the 64-bit installation image - since RAM & 64-bit capable processors have become so cheap, and ubiquitous, it seems that 64-bit operating systems are quickly displacing 32-bit as the new de facto standard.
I've got 32GB of RAM, and since video & audio production can be memory-intensive, I'd love to be able to take advantage of it.
Dream Studio supports up to 64GB of RAM
The stock Dream Studio install DVD will work just fine with your system!
Rock on!
64 bit
Hi, I just signed up here. I have a new computer on the way and would like to try Dream Studio.
The machine will have 8Gb Ram, an i5 2500K chip and a NVidia Geforce GTS450 card.
Originally I wanted to ask if I can install the 64 bit version vs the 32 bit version, but it seems it is no longer available at the above link.
Also, I could only get to this post because I knew about it and by searching for it again. Did you remove the 64 bit version and this post somehow?
Secondly, if the 64bit version is not available anymore, and/or if I should not use it for my new PC, is the PAE kernel a low-latency kernel or would I need to install a low-latency kernel seperately?
Thanks
Lowlatency PAE
The PAE kernel is lowlatency as well! I had mentioned in another post the reasons for removing the 64-bit version, but the short answer is because it wasn't ready for prime time yet. Stay tuned!
